What does Nvenc use?
Nvidia NVENC is a feature in Nvidia graphics cards that performs video encoding, offloading this compute-intensive task from the CPU to the GPU.
It was introduced with the Kepler-based GeForce 600 series in March 2012..
Does OBS use GPU or CPU?
OBS also requires some GPU resources to do its scene compositing and rendering. Games often will try to max out the GPU, so you generally have to set some limits on the games (like a frame rate limit) so that OBS can easily perform its work.
What is a good bitrate for streaming?
Full HD with a standard Framerate (1080p, 30fps) > your bitrate should be 3,500 to 5,000 kbps. Regular HD with High Framerate (720p, 60fps) > your bitrate should be 3,500 to 5,000 kbps. Regular HD with Standard Framerate (720p, 30fps) > your bitrate should be 2,500 to 4,000 kbps.
Does Nvenc use CPU?
Like I mentioned before, the advantage of other encoders like NVENC is that they use a dedicated chip on the GPU to take the pressure off your CPU. The less work your CPU has to do, the better your games will run and the less likely you are to drop frames while streaming.
Is it better to stream with CPU or GPU?
If you have a powerful GPU, GPU encoding is better. If you have a powerful CPU, CPU encoding is better. The recommended number of cores for streaming is 6 so if you have 6 cores you can easily stream your game play. If you have the new Nvidia Turing cards I will suggest you use GPU encoding.
Which encoder should I use?
For recording, use a hardware encoder (nvenc, quicksync) with quality-based rate control (CQP, ICQ, CRF) and no bitrate-based rate control (everything with BR in it). Use a quality setting of about 18-21. This gives a quality almost indistinguishable from the original and has no CPU power demand.
Should I use software or hardware encoding?
For most people who are just getting into live streaming, software encoders are a better choice than hardware encoders. They provide an accessible entry point into the world of streaming, and you can’t overstate how important that can be.
Is x264 CPU or GPU?
x264 is cpu/software based encoding and quality wise better than gpu based encoders from Intel (QSV), NVIDIA (NVEnc) and AMD (VCE).
Should I use Nvenc or x264 Reddit?
If you need more CPU performance for your games, use nvenc. If you need more gpu performance use x264. However getting same quality as new nvenc on x264 be ready to sacrifice 4 cores of your cpu.
